The Durbeck Archive has been collecting autographed LPs for more than 40 years. Of the 6,000+ autographed records in the Archive, over 95% have been personally obtained by me and can, therefore, be truly authenticated. Those LPs shown on this page are but the "tip of the iceberg." There are many many more since when I would meet a composer, I would have everything I currently owned by that composer autographed. My personal interest in having my records signed is twofold: first, these meetings have provided me with the opportunity to meet the artists themselves and secondly, I feel autographs are a personal manner of validating an artist's recorded legacy. The phonograph record is the document and the autograph is that artist's imprimatur for that performance. This combination is, therefore, a historical document.
