Crossover
Singers
"Crossover singing" is
generally considered to be that where the singer is singing music
"against type," e.g. opera singers singing pop, jazz or
other genre. Often this is considered to be a novelty
for the singer as well as the listener. The Archive also has
many recordings of pop or jazz musicians playing and singing opera
music - what goes around comes around. Here are some
interesting samples of opera singers gone pop. These are but a
few of the "crossover" albums in The Durbeck Archive. |
